Dactylorhiza fuchsii seed 

This picture was taken by Colin Clay using a Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) and shows an amazing amount of detail of the surface of the seed. 

To obtain an idea of the size of the seed, the horizontal scale line at the top of the picture is one-fifth of a millimetre long. 
SEM pictures cannot show any of the internal structure of the sample, but the body of the seed is concentrated in a tiny ball, probably less than one-tenth of a millimetre in diameter, in the centre of this netted shell.
